Final black student space graphic 100

Welcome to the BSS

The Black Student Space (BSS) is an identity-affirming space where Black undergraduate and graduate students at UBC Vancouver can study, connect with each other, recharge, host events and sessions, as well as build community. The Black Student Space will only be open to currently enrolled students who identify as Black, including but not limited to those who are of Black African descent, African-American, African- Canadian, Afro-Caribbean, Afro-Latinx, and Afro-Indigenous.

All activities held in the Black Student Space fall under the UBC Student Code of Conduct, the UBC Respectful Environment Statement and other policies governing prohibited behaviors on the campus.

In addition, event hosts, collaborators and attendees are expected to respect the Community and Booking Guidelines established by members of the BSS.  Only the Lower Space of the BSS is available for booking.

The space is wheelchair accessible and further accommodation requests are welcome.

The Black Student Space is managed by UBC’s Centre for Student Development and Leadership.
