Students who are enrolled in a physical therapy program outside of Canada may request a clinical placement in British Columbia through their school's clinical education coordinator. Only requests submitted via the school's coordinator will be considered. Requests submitted directly by students, or requests that are not complete, will not be reviewed.

All placements in BC are coordinated through UBC - please do not contact any sites directly

For 2026, we are able to consider international placement requests for the following date ranges only (you may apply for any dates within these windows):

Winter 2026: January 5th - February 13th, 2026
Summer 2026: June 29th - August 28th, 2026

Upon confirmation of a public sector placement, and administrative fee of $150.00 (Canadian Dollars) will be requested. The fee is subject to change. The fee is non-refundable if a student cancels a placement for any reason once a placement has been confirmed. No fee is collected for private site placements, and no administrative support is available from UBC's Department of Physical Therapy for private site placements (after confirmation of dates and site, all logistics must be managed by the student's school, the student, and the site).

Is your program recognized by World Physiotherapy? Please note, as a requirement to student licensure with the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC, program accreditation with World Physiotherapy is mandatory. UBC is not able to search for placement matches for students whose programs are not recognized. Questions relating to World Physiotherapy recognition should be directed to the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC.
Are you seeking a placement in public practice (hospital, community care, rehabilitation setting, etc.), or within a private clinic? You must select one of the two options. If we are not able to meet your request, we will consider shifting to the alternate stream of practice.
