Steering Committee Volunteer Opportunity



Description

The CaRCC Systems-Facing Track is searching for a volunteer interested in joining our steering committee. As a volunteer, you’ll collaborate closely with committee members as well as the track co-coordinators to organize, host, and schedule monthly track calls. The co-coordinators and committee meet monthly to collaborate on upcoming track calls. Assignments are distributed among the group, with each member playing an active role in organizing approx 2-4 track calls per year. This position is a great fit for individuals with a strong passion for systems-related topics and an eagerness to help innovate and shape the research computing community. Teaming up with other like-minded professionals, this is an opportunity to direct and diversify the breadth of content our track can cover for the benefit of the community.


  • The Steering Committee is made up of Systems-Facing professionals in the Research Computing & Data community

  • Every effort is made to provide diversity in the makeup of committee members, including:

    • Small to large institutions (a variety of Carnegie classifications)

    • Geographic diversity

    • Individual member diversity


Time Commitment

  • There are two hour-long meetings per month:

    • A Steering Committee meeting

    • The CaRCC Systems Facing Track meeting

  • There is no term limit for sitting committee members

  • If needed, committee members can request to step out of their role


Roles/Responsibilities

  • Participate in monthly planning meetings 

  • Host or Co-Host 2-4 track calls per year

  • Attend, as able, monthly track calls.  Help as needed with notes, moderation, and Q&A

  • Curate call topics based on community needs

  • Recruit call leaders, speakers, panelists, etc

  • Promote CaRCC and the Systems-Facing Track through participation, discussions, outreach, conferences and other activities

  • Support the CaRCC Code of Conduct
